Court Sentences Man For 7th OWI Conviction

DUNN COUNTY -- The Court has sentenced an Eau Claire, WI man for his conviction of 7th offense operating while intoxicated in Eau Claire County from August 2019.

DrydenWire published a press release from the Wisconsin State Patrol in August 2019, regarding the arrest of Henry Gapinski for operating while intoxicated. The press release stated that Gapinski’s vehicle was stopped after speeding through a construction zone shortly after 5p on August 11, 2019.

Charges of Class F Felony OWI 7th; Class F Felony Operating w/ PAC 7th; Misdemeanor Operating While Revoked; and 2 charges of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping were subsequently filed against Gapinski according to online circuit court records.

At a hearing on March 22, 2021, the Court accepted Gapinski’s plea of Guilty to his charge of Class F Felony OWI 7th. The remaining charges filed against Gapinski were dismissed.

The Court ordered a 6-year sentence for Gapinski; 3 years of initial confinement in state prison to be followed by 3 years of extended supervision.

Conditions of supervision will require Gapinski to complete an alcohol and other drug assessment and follow through with recommendations.
