BARRON COUNTY -- A Rice Lake, WI man has been ordered to serve a term in state prison for his conviction of operating while intoxicated 6th offense.
Previously, DrydenWire.com reported that felony charges had been filed against Milo Merrill, of Rice Lake, WI following a rollover crash that occurred on November 25, 2019 in Turtle Lake Township.
Merrill told Law Enforcement that he had swerved to miss deer, leading to the crash. A preliminary breath test on Merrill gave a result of .108.
Charges of Class G Felony OWI 6th, and Class G Felony Operating With Prohibited Alcohol Concentration were filed against Merrill.
Online circuit court records show that Merrill entered a Plea of Guilty to his charge of Class G Felony OWI 6th at a recent hearing in Barron County Circuit Court. The remaining charge against Merrill was dismissed.
The Court ordered a 6 year sentence for Merrill; 3 years of initial confinement, followed by 3 years of extended supervision.
Merrill will be eligible for the state prison substance abuse program and is also ordered to undergo an alcohol and other drug assessment while on extended supervision and then follow through with recommendations.
