BARRON COUNTY — A man arrested for arson at a Cumberland, WI, church has been sentenced in Barron County Circuit Court.
Kyle Alfonse, 43, of Cumberland, WI, was arrested in April 2026 after authorities responded to the Northern Lakes Community Church located in Cumberland for a report of a fire.
According to a press release, the investigation determined that the fire was intentionally set and evidence of accelerant use was located and collected.
Alfonse was charged with felony Arson of a Building without the Owner's Consent and felony Criminal Damage to Religious Property. He was placed on a $2, 500 cash bond.
Alfonse appeared while in custody for a recent court hearing and entered a plea of Guilty to an amended charge of Misdemeanor Negligent Handling of Burning Material. The remaining arson charge was dismissed and read in.
Online court records show that the Hon. Judge Maureen Boyle ordered Alfonse to serve 170 days in county jail with credit for 127 days already served.
