RUSK COUNTY — A Rusk County investigation into the sexual assault of a juvenile that began in 2022 and stretched across years of court hearings, dismissed complaints, and refiled charges has concluded with the sentencing of the second adult who was charged criminally as a result of the investigation.
Kyle Hankins, age 34, and Desiree Johnson, age 42, both of Ladysmith, WI, were both charged following the original investigation.
The charges against Johnson were dismissed (and later re-filed).
Hankins was sentenced on convictions from his court case in September 2025.
Johnson appeared for a court hearing on March 4, 2026, and was sentenced for a conviction of child neglect.
