Trego Woman Found Guilty for 2nd Time of Battery to an Officer

Jessica Hotchkiss, of Trego, WI, was convicted in Washburn County Circuit Court on January 27, 2017, of a charge of Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer, a Class H Felony. Ms. Hotchkiss had previously requested a Jury Trial on this charge. The Court ordered that Hotchkiss serve 1 year in County Jail for this conviction.

The charge of Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer was filed on August 10, 2016, against Hotchkiss, stemming from a July 19, 2016, incident in which she contacted law enforcement and alleged that she had been assaulted.

According to public records obtained and reviewed by DrydenWire.com, after officers determined that her allegations appeared to be without merit, the officers on scene advised Hotchkiss that she was under arrest for violation of her bail bond. At that time, Hotchkiss became aggressive and combative with the officers, resulting in injuries to at least one officer.

Hotchkiss had also been charged with Felony Bail Jumping and Misdemeanor Resisting an Officer after the July 19, 2016, incident. Those charges were dismissed in the January 27, 2017, hearing.

In August 2016, Hotchkiss was convicted in Washburn County Circuit Court of a previous charge for Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer as well as Possession of Marijuana. She received a sentence on August 30, 2016, of confinement in Wisconsin State Prison for 2 years and 6 months of initial confinement with 3 years and 6 months of extended supervision to follow that initial confinement.

Public record indicates that the Court reviewed Hotchkiss's sentence for the earlier conviction of Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer at the January 27, 2017, hearing and amended that conviction to require only 1 year, 6 months of extended supervision after her release from state prison.

The Court also ordered that Hotchkiss's sentences run concurrently with each other.
