BURNETT COUNTY -- The Burnett County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the victims in Saturday's double-fatal crash in Burnett County in a press release today.
(Press Release) -- On December 28, 2019 at 3:08 p.m. Burnett County Dispatch received a call of a semi vs. automobile crash on State Highway 70 at Williams Road in Grantsburg Township. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2004 Gold Honda Accord was travelling westbound on State Highway 70. The semi was travelling eastbound on State Highway 70. It appears that the driver of the Honda lost control and travelled into the path of the oncoming semi and was struck by the semi.
The operator of the Honda, Micaela Schneider, 22 years old, of Plover, WI was pronounced deceased at the scene along with the passenger, Olivia Johnson, 22 years old, of St. Paul, MN. There were no significant injuries to the driver and passenger of the semi.
The Grantsburg Fire Department, North Ambulance, Burnett County Highway Department, Burnett County Medical Examiner, Wisconsin State Patrol, Karl Anderson’s Towing, Bruce’s Auto along with the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.
This crash is still under investigation.

BURNETT COUNTY -- A Semi Vs Automobile crash in Burnett County has resulted in the death of two people.
The Wisconsin State Patrol says that the crash occurred on 70 near Williams Road in Burnett County at approximately 3p today, Saturday, December 28, 2019.
According to a source, the crash has resulted in two fatalities.
**UPDATE 1 ** The Burnett County Sheriff's Office has released the following statement regarding the crash:
(Press Release) -- The Burnett County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol are investigating a semi vs. automobile crash on State Highway 70 near Grantsburg.
On December 28, 2019 at 3:08 p.m., Burnett County Dispatch received a call of a semi vs. automobile crash on State Highway 70 at Williams Road in Grantsburg Township. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene. State Highway 70 has been closed and traffic detoured around the crash scene.
Grantsburg Fire Department, North Ambulance, Burnett County Highway Department and the Burnett County Medical Examiner all responded to the scene.
No further information will be released pending further investigation and notifications.
**UPDATE 2** - Both lanes are now open as of 9:54p, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.
