POLK COUNTY (DrydenWire) - The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal one-vehicle crash that occurred early Tuesday morning, September 17, 2024.

According to Polk County Sheriff Brent Waak, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 2:12a, The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a one-vehicle crash on County Highway E, just north of County Highway G (200th Ave.) in the Town of Georgetown.

A northbound pickup, occupied by only the driver, crossed the center line, entered the opposite ditch, and struck a power pole. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The name of the fatal victim will be released at a later date, according to the Sheriff.

Assisting the Polk County Sheriffs Office with this crash were Apple River Fire/ First Responders and the Polk County Medical Examiner.

The crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
