UPDATE: Name Of Boater Who Drowned While Fishing On Sandhill Lake Released

POLK COUNTY -- Authorities have released the name of the victim who died while fishing on Sandhill Lake on Friday. In an updated press release, the Polk County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Larry Richolz, 70, of Frederic, Wisconsin.

(Press Release) -- On Friday, October 4, 2019, at approximately 4:46 p.m. the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a possible drowning in Sandhill Lake off of 204th Street in Luck, Wisconsin. Polk County Sheriff’s Deputies, first responders and EMS were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a subject unresponsive and began administering CPR. Attempts to resuscitate the subject were unsuccessful.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears that the subject was fishing on Sandhill Lake and fell out of a boat in to the water. The subject was submerged in the water for several minutes.

The victim has been identified as Larry Richolz, age 70, of Frederic, Wisconsin.

Assisting with incident were the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Luck Police Department, Cushing Fire Department, Luck Ambulance, St Croix Valley EMS, Frederic Fire Department, Polk County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

This matter was investigated by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

POLK COUNTY — One person has died from an apparent drowning in Sandhill Lake while fishing, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

(Press Release) — On Friday, October 4, 2019, at approximately 4:46 p.m. the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a possible drowning in Sandhill Lake off of 204th Street in Luck, Wisconsin. The identity of the subject is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.
