On Monday morning, April 17, 2017, at 6:04 a.m., a Barron County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on Hwy. 8 near the Hwy. 53 exit ramp for failing to obey a traffic officer who had arrived to investigate a motor vehicle crash near the intersection that had been reported just prior to that. As the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, a chase ensued eastbound on Hwy 8 then north on CTH SS through the Village of Cameron. The vehicle traveled speeds over 95 mph into the City of Rice Lake where the pursuit was terminated by the deputy.

A short time later, the vehicle was observed by the Rice Lake Police Department as it began traveling south on CTH SS toward Cameron. Another pursuit was initiated as it continued southbound on CTH SS south of Cameron where the driver lost control and vehicle came to a stop in the ditch near the intersection of CTH SS and 11th Avenue.

The driver of the vehicle, Amber Shanice Jasper (age 26), was taken into custody for Attempting to Flee an Officer and several other traffic violations. She is being held at the Barron County Jail pending formal charges.
