RUSK COUNTY (DrydenWire) – A Rusk County resident was scammed out of $47,000 after clicking a suspicious link on their computer, leading to a sophisticated scheme involving fake tech support, coordinated cash withdrawals, and a courier who came to the victim’s home to collect the money.
Swift response by law enforcement identified a suspect as 24-year-old Miteshkumar Chaudhari of Oak Forest, Illinois, who was arrested after returning to collect more money.
Chaudhari now faces multiple felony charges, including attempted theft and crimes against an elderly or disabled person.
