POLK COUNTY, WI — Former State Representative Erik Serverson announced today his candidacy for the 25th Senate District.
“When I first ran for elected office back in 2010, it was because I could no longer sit on the sidelines and just watch what was happening in our state and our country as a whole. While much has changed since then, I find myself in the same space, feeling called to serve my local community once again and being the voice for underrepresented, rural Wisconsin communities,” said Severson.
During his two terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly, Severson voted for collective bargaining reforms in Act 10, concealed carry, voter ID reforms and limits on abortion.
Additionally, he served as the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Health, and authored a wide range of legislation, including improvements to funding for ATV/UTV trails, increasing access to mental health services and streamlining bear hunting licensure.
“I’m proud of the work my colleagues and I achieved during my first two terms in the Wisconsin legislature but there is more work to be done. I will stand up and protect our personal liberties and freedoms and look forward to getting out into the community to hear from people and businesses here in the 25th District about the challenges they face every day and finding ways to address those issues.”
Severson is proud to have the endorsement of conservative stalwarts, US Secretary of Transportation and former US Congressman Sean Duffy, former State Senator Sheila Harsdorf, current 10th District State Senator Rob Stafsholt, 75th State Assembly Representative Duke Tucker, Polk County Sheriff Brent Waak, and former State Representatives Adam Jarchow, Gae Magnafici and John Murtha.
A devoted family man, Erik and his wife Katie have been happily married for 25 years and together have three wonderful children.
The 25th Senate District encompasses much of Northwestern Wisconsin, extending from Polk County, north to Superior and as far east as Hurley.
