CHIPPEWA COUNTY -- On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, a fatal crash occurred on CTH N at 35th Street in the Township of Wheaton, resulting in the death of 29-year-old Seth Lehrke. The incident, involving an overturned semi-truck, was reported to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 5:30 P.M.
According to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Seth Lehrke was traveling westbound on CTH N, hauling approximately 5,500 pounds of liquid manure, when he lost control of the semi while negotiating a curve in the roadway. The semi-truck and its trailer subsequently overturned.
Lehrke, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Despite the swift response of the Chippewa Fire District and other first responders, life-saving measures were ultimately unsuccessful, and Lehrke was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. No additional information has been released at this time.
