Dump Truck Vs Minivan Crash Results In Death Of Juvenile Passenger

CHIPPEWA COUNTY -- A dump truck vs minivan crash has resulted in the death of a juvenile passenger, and a driver being airlifted to an area hospital with 'serious injuries', according to a press release from the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office.

Persons Involved: Driver of the dump truck: Adult male no other passengers Driver of the Minivan: Adult female and one three year old passenger.  No names to be released at this point in the investigation.

Details of Event: -- On 07/11/2019 at 234 pm the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a dump truck vs minivan crash, with injury, at the intersection of STH 27 and CTH MM in the town of Sigel just south of the Village of Cadott, WI. A dump truck was traveling N/B on STH 27. A minivan was traveling S/B on STH 27 and attempted to turn E/B onto CTH MM in front of the N/B dump truck. The dump truck collided with the passenger side of the minivan. Both vehicles were ended up in the east ditch north of the intersection.

The driver of the minivan was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated from the vehicle. The driver of the minivan was airlifted to an Eau Claire are hospital for serious injuries. The Juvenile passenger in the minivan was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The operator of the dump truck was uninjured. 

The crash is currently being investigated by the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol. 

Agencies Involved: Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Cadott Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Boyd Ambulance, Cadott Fire, and Mayo One Helicopter.
