Fatal Crash On Highway 64 Claims Life Of Clear Lake Man

STANTON TOWNSHIP — A two-vehicle crash on State Highway 64 in Stanton Township early Thursday morning resulted in the death of a Clear Lake man, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office.

The St. Croix County Emergency Communication Center received a call at approximately 6:48 a.m. on February 6, 2025, reporting a crash with injuries in the 1600 block of STH 64.

Deputies arrived on scene and determined that a 2007 Mazda, driven by Jeremiah D. Green, 38, of Clear Lake, WI, was traveling westbound when he lost control on the icy roadway. Green’s vehicle crossed the center line and was struck by an eastbound 2020 Ford Escape, operated by Travis A. Johnson, 46, of Prairie Farm, WI.

Despite life-saving measures at the scene, Green succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner. Authorities reported that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Johnson, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained injuries and was transported to Westfields Hospital in New Richmond by the New Richmond Ambulance.

The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New Richmond Police Department, New Richmond Fire Department, New Richmond EMS, Deer Park Fire Department, and the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.

This incident marks the first traffic fatality in St. Croix County in 2025. The crash remains under investigation.
