CLAYTON, WI (DrydenWire) -- A fatal motorcycle accident on Saturday evening, May 11, 2024, has claimed the life of a 53-year-old man from Almena, Wisconsin. The incident occurred at approximately 8:18p, when the Polk County Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting a crash on County Highway D, west of State Highway 63, in the town of Clayton.

Deputies and first responders arrived swiftly at the scene to find that an eastbound motorcycle had veered off the road while attempting to navigate a curve on County Highway D. The operator of the motorcycle, identified as Richard M. Johnson, was not wearing a helmet and sustained fatal injuries. Despite the immediate lifesaving efforts made by first responders, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Polk County Medical Examiner. Authorities are working to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragic accident.
