POLK COUNTY — The Barron County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting overnight in Polk County, according to a press release from the St. Croix Falls Police Department.

On August 8th at 21:44 St. Croix Falls Police Officers responded to a 911 call of a woman needing help at the Dalles House Motel 726 STH 35.
When officers arrived at the room an adult male, armed with a knife, exited. The male refused several officer commands to drop the knife. The male then rushed an officer with the knife forcing an officer to discharge his weapon. The male succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

When officers entered the room, an adult female was located with several stab wounds to her neck and chest. The female was airlifted to a metro hospital.
The shooting is being investigated by the Barron County Sheriff’s Office.
