SAWYER COUNTY (DrydenWire) - A single-vehicle crash on Saturday has resulted in the death of a 77-year-old Hayward man, according to a press release from the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday December 02, 2023 at 9:14 am, Sawyer County Deputies assisted by Sawyer County EMS and the Winter Fire Department responded to a single vehicle crash on County Highway B east of the intersection of County Highway W in the Town of Winter.

When Deputies and Emergency Personnel arrived on scene, the vehicle involved, a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, was located in a wooded area off the roadway. Deputies determined the vehicle had been traveling eastbound on County Highway B when the driver apparently lost control, left the roadway and rolled over in the ditch line striking a tree.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was identified as James J. Kosinski, 77, of Hayward , WI. Kosinski sustained fatal injuries and died a result of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office and the Sawyer County Medical Examiner’s Office.
