UPDATE: Name Released In Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash In Town Of Weirgor

SAWYER COUNTY -- Authorities have released the following update regarding the fatal-crash in the Twon of Weirgor on November 29th.

(Press Release) -- On November 29, 2019, the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the identity of the adult male victim involved in the traffic incident that occurred on STH 40 in the Town of Weirgor. 

The deceased adult male is identified as William J. Hutchison, age 57, from Brookfield, Wisconsin.

This incident remains under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sawyer County Coroner’s Office.

SAWYER COUNTY — A single-vehicle crash on Friday in the Town of Weirgor has resulted in the death of a 57-year-old man from Brookfield, WI, according to a press release from the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office.

(Press Release)On November 29, 2019 at 11:15 a.m. the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one vehicle traffic crash on STH 40, south of the junction of STH 48 in the Town of Weirgor. Sawyer County Sheriff’s Deputies, Sawyer County EMS, WI State Patrol, WI DNR Wardens and the Exeland Fire Department responded.

A 2003 GMC truck, driven by a 57 year old male from Brookfield, WI was traveling southbound on STH 40, crossed the northbound lane and struck a tree. Preliminary investigations with eyewitness statements indicate that the driver was hunched over the steering wheel, possibly unconscious before the crash.

Witnesses and First Responders attempted to resuscitate the driver, but were unsuccessful. The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of family.

This incident remains under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Sawyer County Coroner’s Office.
