WASHBURN COUNTY -- Felony charges of Take and Drive Vehicle Without Consent have been filed against a Shell Lake, WI man following an incident on August 28, 2017, in which he reportedly stole a vehicle in the city of Shell Lake, WI.
Online circuit court records show that William Souter, of Shell Lake, WI has been charged in Washburn County Circuit Court with Class H Felony Take & Drive Vehicle Without Consent and Class A Misdemeanor Theft of Movable Property.
DrydenWire.com reported on August 28, 2017, that Souter had been arrested after a vehicle was reported stolen from the City of Shell Lake, WI.
Souter was located near Cumberland, WI, in Barron County. Sources told DrydenWire.com that he was also involved in a Hit-and-Run before reportedly fleeing on foot. He was found and arrested shortly after.
Souter is scheduled to appear in Washburn County Circuit Court next week. At the time of this post, the only Barron County charges listed for Souter on online circuit court records are non-criminal traffic citations for Hit-and-Run – Property Adjacent to Highway and Failture to Notify Police of Accident, however Souter was booked into the Barron County Jail on possible criminal charges of Hit-and-Run and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.

Suspect Apprehended in Barron Co. Following Reported Auto Theft in Shell Lake

BARRON COUNTY -- One male subject is in custody today after allegedly stealing a vehicle in Shell Lake, Wisconsin.
According to authorities, the male subject, identified as William R. Souter of Shell Lake, allegedly stole a vehicle at or near a Shell Lake business. Local law enforcement notified other city and county agencies of the alleged theft.
At 11:57 A.M., Barron County Dispatch received notification by Washburn County advising that a vehicle had allegedly been stolen.
Souter was subsequently spotted in the Cumberland area shortly thereafter.
Sources tell DrydenWire.com that Souter was also involved in a hit-and-run in the Cumberland area before allegedly fleeing on foot where a search for Souter ensued. The details of that search are unknown to DrydenWire.com at this time, however, authorities have confirmed to us that Souter was apprehended and is currently in custody.
According to public record, Souter has been booked into the Barron County Jail on charges of Hit & Run and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.
Although no charges have been filed at the time of this post in Washburn County Circuit Court, the Barron County Dispatch Log indicates that Souter may be facing charges of Operating a Vehicle Without Owner's Consent relating to the theft of a vehicle in Shell Lake, WI.
