RUSK COUNTY — A Rockford, Illinois, contractor is facing a felony charge for contractor theft in Rusk County Circuit Court after authorities allege he accepted more than $100,000 for fire-related repairs on a local home and failed to complete the work.
A homeowner hired Ron Walker of Walkers Remodeling and Construction in early 2025 following significant fire damage to their residence. Prosecutors allege Walker collected multiple payments totaling well over $100,000 but did not finish the agreed-upon remodeling, failed to provide invoices, and later threatened to place a lien on the property for additional funds.
Walker is scheduled to appear in court on April 7, 2026.
