WASHBURN COUNTY (DrydenWire) - A felony domestic abuse case stemming from an alleged assault at a Trego, Wisconsin, rental cabin has been formally closed with dismissal of all charges against the accused.
According to court records, Kiefer Pearson, 26, of Duluth, Minnesota, had faced multiple charges, including Class H Felony Strangulation and Suffocation, related to the incident that was reported in August 2024.
However, during a court hearing on February 6, 2026, Washburn County Judge Winton-Roe granted a Motion to Dismiss filed by Washburn County Assistant D. A. Ness, stating that the case lacked further prosecutorial merit. Because the dismissal was granted with prejudice, the charges cannot be refiled.
