Fifth Annual Spring Fashion Show

Fifth Annual Spring Fashion Show

Washburn County is the ideal place to live if you are in need of services, from rides to the doctor through the Unit on Ageing, or help with raking your leaves from Faith in Action, or having a place for someone you love who is suffering from Alzheimer’s, just to mention a few.

The Alzheimer’s Respite Program provides activities, food, and fellowship several days a week at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Spooner for those suffering from dementia, giving their caregivers a needed time to themselves; a respite.

To help fund this fifth annual fashion show that will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 1:00 pm, two dedicated women, Lynda Hoyt and MaryAnn Kies plan the yearly event and then, with valuable help from the Volunteer Partners of Spooner Health along with Dawn Schliesmann, the Community Service Specialist for the Indianhead Community Action Agency and head of the Connections thrift store in Spooner, it’s celebrated by a room full of women who are there for a truly enjoyable afternoon.

Dawn is the genius behind the outfits, cleverly putting some of their hundreds of clothing pieces they carry together, jewelry included for each model. Not only are these clothes modeled, they are sold after the show along with the outfits that are displayed around the room.

Included in the fashion show tea are refreshments and door prizes. There will be a free-will offering and in case you’d like to be in the running for a door prize, the theme this year is fishing, seeing it’s the first day of the fishing season, so drag out anything sporty and come expecting to welcome spring with this annual day out for women.
