The St. Croix Casino Danbury’s former Hole in the Wall Hotel, across from the parking lot from the new casino and hotel, sustained major damages in a fire on Saturday afternoon, November 4.
Firefighters responded to the pool/sauna area of the hotel where the fire is believed to have started.
A source within St. Croix Casino Danbury security said they believe the fire may have been started by kids putting something over the heat grate in the sauna, though that information has not been confirmed.
There were 20 rooms in the hotel with registered guests. No injuries have been reported.
“The staff did a great job of clearing all of our guests out of the hotel,” said Louis Taylor, St. Croix Tribal Administrator.
Firefighters from Danbury, Webb Lake, Webster, Siren and the St. Croix Tribal fire departments responded to the scene. Deputies from the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office and North Memorial Ambulance also responded.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
