Flock Of Geese Crossing Road Leads To Multi-Vehicle Crash

WASHBURN COUNTY -- A vehicle slowed for a flock of geese crossing Highway 77 in Washburn County, resulting in a rear end collision.

On June 11, 2019 shortly before 2:30 in the afternoon in the Town of Minong in Washburn County, a vehicle operated by Bryan Snow, of Webster, WI, slowed almost to a stop to avoid hitting a flock of geese that was crossing Highway 77.

According to a crash report from the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle operated by Mandy Shilts of Minong, WI, was following Snow’s vehicle and was unable to stop in response to Snow’s reduction in speed, resulting in a rear end collision. Snow was transported for medical care for possible injuries.

The crash report states that Shilts and her two children were also transported for medical care following the collision. Shilts had suspected serious injuries; the children had suspected minor injuries. Their current condition is not known to DrydenWire.com at the time of this post.

Traffic lanes were closed for approximately 40 minutes according to the crash report, and it was raining at the time of the crash. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage.

No injuries to the geese were reported.
