School District of Shell Lake - This weeks “Focus on the Faculty” we are featuring our 4K-6 School Counselor, Dana Guetschow!
Dane is from Sparta, WI and attended College at UW-Eau Claire and UW-Platteville for MSE. She has worked in the Shell Lake School district for four years.
When it comes to her family she says, “My parents are my heroes. I have the best mom and my step-dad adopted me when I was 13. I have an older sister and younger brother. I live with my 4-year-old daughter and her daddy. I love my family very much!”

- Movie – Inside Out
- Author – Louise Hay
- Activities – Camping, hiking and biking
As a child, Dana wanted to work in a daycare when she grew up. A teacher she remembers from school is her debate teacher in High School, Mr. Rainwater. She felt like he always really listened to her and challenged her beliefs in a positive way!
What she loves most about working in Shell Lake is the staff and students. They fill her bucket every day. She calls the staff and students at the Shell Lake School, "MY SCHOOL FAMILY!"
One of the funnies things a student ever said to her was, "How will I ever find a man to marry if my parents won't let me date until I am 30?" This, from a 9-year-old! #ShellLakeStrong
