(SLSD) -- This weeks “Focus on the Faculty” we feature Susan Leeper, our High School and Middle School math teacher.
Susan’s hometown is Fort Dodge, Iowa and she attended Wartburg College. She has worked in the Shell Lake School District for 3 years.
Susan is married to her husband Russ. She enjoys reading books written by Jane Austen. Her hobbies include camping, hiking, cooking, reading and traveling. As a child, she wanted to be teacher, journalist, and a pediatrician.
She has many memories of her own teachers such as Mr. Shiraki, a 5th and 6th grade teacher who stressed discipline and responsibility to one’s self and Mrs. Weichmann, her high school English teacher, who was disappointed that she wanted to be a math teacher. She thought Susan should teach English because she thought there was just no creativity in math.
What she loves most about her job is working with the students and her great colleagues!
Pictures are from a trip to Tanzania last summer. They lived there 25 years ago, and this was their first time back.
