Former Spooner Coach has Luck at Next Level!

Former Spooner Coach has Luck at Next Level!

Luke Ackerson, former teacher and Track Coach for Spooner, has transitioned to coaching college track. Luke was an alum of Spooner in 2008 and went on to college at the University of Wisconsin La crosse. He was a part of a National Championship team while there, but after college he came back to Spooner to teach and coach. After two years he moved back to La Crosse to coach at the next level along with teach elementary students.

This past weekend his athlete Luke Rohloff, won the D3 national title in the high hurdles with a time of 14.17, which sits 2nd all time at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. Ackerson is in his 2nd year and has had 8 athletes qualify for national meets, and one decathlon athlete.  He also coached Alex Grubbs, 2016 graduate of Spooner, who qualified at Nationals in the javelin for the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. The University of Wisconsin La Crosse has won 3 national titles while Luke has been on staff as an assistant coach. We hope for more luck in the future, and go Eagles!
