POLK COUNTY (DrydenWire) - A criminal case stemming from allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse involving a Polk County juvenile victim remains partially unresolved, with proceedings still moving forward against Amanda Whiting, while Joshua Whiting’s case has now been settled.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Polk County Circuit Court, the investigation began after a report was made in October 2024 by a now-adult victim who alleged that he was 17 years old when he became involved in an ongoing sexual relationship with Amanda Whiting, then 35, of Amery. The complaint outlines allegations that the relationship began while the victim was employed by Whiting, progressed over several months, and involved repeated sexual contact, manipulation, intimidation, and physical abuse.
Charges were filed against both Amanda and Joshua in February 2025. Amanda, age 38, now of Falcon Heights, MN, is scheduled to appear again in March 2026 regarding her criminal charges, which include sexual intercourse with a child 16 or older, child enticement, child abuse-intentionally cause harm, and causing mental harm to a child.
Joshua, age 42, now of St. Paul, MN, appeared for a hearing on February 4, 2026, and the Court accepted a settlement agreement.
