WASHBURN COUNTY — The Court has sentenced the final defendant arrested and charged in a 2024 Spooner, WI, drug bust that involved multiple controlled drug buys and resulted in the seizure of a large amount of meth, other drugs, and drug paraphernalia.

The Lac Courte Oreilles (LCO)Tribal Police Department, Wisconsin Division of Criminal (DCI) Investigation, Washburn County Sheriff’s Office, Spooner Police Department, Barron County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Rice Lake Police Department, Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department, Goodhue County Sheriff’s Department (MN), St. Paul Police Department (MN), and the DEA worked in conjunction to bring this drug bust to fruition.

Four people were arrested and later charged: Shane M. Miller, age 48, of Spooner, WI; Brandon K. Bartle, age 33, of Spooner, WI; Kristin E. Root, age 41, of Spooner, WI; and Tomi J. Quagon, age 44, of Stone Lake, WI. Miller, Bartle, and Root were allegedly all residing at the Spooner, WI, residence where a search warrant was executed, and where sales of methamphetamine were occurring.

Root was sentenced on her criminal charges in December 2024, Quagon in January 2025, and Miller in March 2026.

At a hearing on June 18, 2026, Bartle was sentenced by the Hon. Judge John Yackel.
