RUSK COUNTY (DrydenWire) - A late-night vehicle pursuit that crossed county lines into Rusk County and nearly resulted in a head-on crash with a sheriff’s deputy has led to new felony charges against a Shell Lake man with an extensive criminal history.

Authorities say the June 3, 2025, chase involved an unplated truck that entered Rusk County from Barron County, during which the driver allegedly drove towards an oncoming patrol vehicle before fleeing.

The driver, identified as 43-year-old Jess Blake, has already been sentenced in Barron County for fleeing an officer stemming from the same incident and has since been revoked from supervision and ordered to serve prison time in multiple other felony convictions.
