BURNETT COUNTY -- On Tuesday, DrydenWire.com was the first to report that Burnett County District Attorney Joe Schieffer was resigning office due to "personal issues." On Thursday, Governor Evers announced that he is seeking applications for the appointment of D.A. in Burnett County, according to a press release from the Governor's Office.
(Press Release) -- Gov. Tony Evers announced today that he is seeking applications for appointment as Burnett County District Attorney.
The new appointee will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of District Attorney Joseph M. Schieffer, effective October 8, 2019. The new appointee will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term that ends January 2021.

Applications must be submitted by October 21, 2019.
