Governor Evers Approves WIS 70 Resurfacing Project In Sawyer County

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $4.53 million contract with prime contractor Monarch Paving Co. of Amery for a resurfacing project on WIS 70 from County W in Winter to County GG in the unincorporated community of Loretta in Sawyer County. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, June 6.

The pavement on WIS 70 is showing signs of deterioration. To address these, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to:

  • Remove 1.5 inches of the existing pavement and place 2.75 inches of new asphalt pavement.
  • Replace guardrail.
  • Place new pavement markings.

During construction, WIS 70 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter single-lane closures controlled by flagging.

Construction is scheduled for completion in August.
