Grantsburg Man Charged With Possession Of Child Pornography

BURNETT COUNTY -- A criminal complaint has been filed against a Grantsburg, WI man, charging him with possession of child pornography.

Anton Swanson, of Grantsburg, WI, is charged in Burnett County Circuit Court with six counts of Class D Felony Possession of Child Pornography in June of 2020.

When the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) interviewed Swanson on July 30, 2020, he allegedly admitted that he has used the social media site MeWe to view child pornography and that he may have utilized Facebook to share an image of child pornography with at least one individual in June 2020, according to the criminal complaint filed against him.

Swanson also allegedly stated that he likely had images of child pornography on his current phone as well as an older phone. He described the images as mainly underage girls posing nude, however, went on to admit that there would likely be images containing more graphic content. During the interview with DCI, Swanson stated that he first starting viewing child pornography on MeWe in January of 2020.

At a hearing on July 31, 2020, the Court placed Swanson on a $5,000 cash bail bond which was posted a few days later. Swanson recently had an initial appearance on the charges filed against him and he is scheduled to appear again in October 2020.
