SAWYER COUNTY — Gregory Ripczinski has announced his candidacy for Sawyer County Sheriff in the 2026 election, according to a campaign announcement submitted to DrydenWire from Ripczinski.

Lieutenant Gregory G. Ripczinski today announced his candidacy for Sawyer County Sheriff in the Fall 2026 election.
With more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, Ripczinski has dedicated his entire career to serving the citizens of Sawyer County. Hired under former Sheriff Don Sheehan in 1995, he has served as jailer, patrol deputy, shift sergeant, range instructor, and field training supervisor.
Currently overseeing the Patrol Division under Sheriff Doug Mrotek, Ripczinski leads 17 patrol staff and manages the division’s budget. He actively participates in county safety and planning committees and brings extensive training in investigations, administration, and leadership.
A lifelong resident of Sawyer County, Ripczinski and his wife previously operated The Ripczinski Adult Family Home, serving adults with developmental disabilities. He also serves on the Winter School Board representing Area #1 and is a 1993 graduate of the Winter School District with a Police Science degree from Nicolet Area Technical College.
Ripczinski’s decades of service, leadership, and community involvement inspire his commitment to continue serving Sawyer County — this time as Sheriff.
