Hayward High School Artist of the Month

Paige Messa was the HHS Artist of the Month for March. Congratulations, Paige! #LikeACane

Here's a little about Paige, in her own words...

I am going to University of Wisconsin-Madison next year, and plan on majoring in Pharmacology and Toxicology to pursue a career in Pharmacology. 

Right now I am in AP Drawing and working on the concentration portion of my portfolio, a series of twelve, pencil and pen, self-portraits. 

For my self-portrait, oil painting, I started by stretching the canvas myself and painted/sanded the canvas to prep for the painting. Then I valued the portrait with pencil and used that as a base to layer over the oil and paint, a process that took several weeks until the final product came out.
