Hayward Hospital Auxiliary members announced the 2018 Hayward High School scholarship recipients at the Senior Awards Day held at Hayward High School on Wednesday, May 16.
Fourteen seniors, who all intend to pursue health care careers, were awarded scholarships totaling $7,750. The students will primarily attend universities in Wisconsin and Minnesota and are majoring in nursing, pharmacology, neuroscience, pre-medicine, exercise and sports science, medical laboratory science, social work and health information technology.
In addition to the high school scholarship recipients, seven post-secondary students were also awarded scholarships. In total $11,250 was awarded in scholarships. Each year HAMHWE supports the Auxiliary’s efforts by matching their scholarship contribution.
Since 2006, the Auxiliary and HAMHWE have awarded 126 high school and post-secondary students a total of $99,000 in scholarship funds.
Hayward Hospital Auxiliary is a service organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the welfare of the patients, residents and tenants of Hayward Area Memorial Hospital and Water’s Edge. In keeping with their mission, the Auxiliary has offered scholarships to local students for the past 46 years.
