WASHBURN COUNTY (DrydenWire) - A man from Hayward, WI, has been sentenced on a conviction from a May 2024 high-speed pursuit case that traveled through Washburn County. Chad Merritt, age 29, fled from law enforcement in a stolen vehicle. The pursuit ended with Merritt attempting to swim away from law enforcement in a marsh. He was arrested, later charged, and has now been sentenced.
