Increasing Employment Opportunities for Graduating Seniors

Increasing Employment Opportunities for Graduating Seniors

Washburn County EDC, along with Rusk and Barron County EDCs and Workforce Resource are applying for a Wisconsin Fast Forward Grant.

The main purpose of this is to help identify graduating high school seniors that do not have plans on attending further education, and enroll them into an program offered by WITC to ready these individuals for apprenticeships within our local manufacturers.  These students will go through the program and be vetted for desire and abilities to work.  Area manufacturers whom opt into this program will be able to meet perspective apprentices before possibly hiring these students.

Below you will see a brief description of the project and a sample commitment letter.  I'd ask any interested manufacturers to fill the letter out and return to me by November 18th, as the window of opportunity for applying for this grant is very small.  If you have any questions please contact me.

The main missions of this program will be to give high school seniors an avenue to remain in the community while finding a quality job and career from our various great manufacturers within the County, as well as helping our manufacturers find and train quality workers.  We see this as a win, win situation!

This is very time sensitive so please let me know if you have any questions.  Feel free to pass this on to anyone you many feel will be interested in being a manufacturing partner.
