WASHBURN COUNTY — The Intermezzo Music Club will present its annual Advent Concert on Sunday, December 7, 5:00 p.m. at the Spooner Wesleyan Church.
The concert will feature the students from Spooner and Shell Lake Schools who were the recipients of Intermezzo 2025 music scholarships.
Their performances will be interspersed with those from accomplished area musicians including Logan Kaduce playing trombone and someprevious Intermezzo Award recipients singing, and some playing piano, violin and trumpet. The region’s premier a cappella choir, Ave Generosa, will be singing under the direction of Holly Bacha.
Intermezzo promotes music education and local music making in the Spooner and Shell Lake communities. The Club works with local music educators to encourage their students to participate in Intermezzo’s annual scholarship auditions in April.
This year Intermezzo was able to offer scholarships to eight students including two full scholarships to the Shell Lake Arts Center music camps. Donations from local businesses, individuals, and the Advent Concert free will offering are the main sources of funding for student scholarships.
Intermezzo’s newest project is Make Music Day Spooner-Shell Lake which will happen on June 21, 2026.
The public is cordially invited to attend this concert featuring music for the upcoming holiday season. All are welcome to attend the reception following the concert.
