SPOONER, WI -- Charges have been filed against a Shell Lake, WI man following an incident in August 2021 in the parking lot of Spooner Health when he allegedly made terrorist threats.

On August 31, 2021, just before 6:00p, Spooner Police Officers were dispatched to Spooner Health after Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a male who was threatening to go to Danbury, grab an AR-15 and start shooting people and the call was plotting from the parking lot of Spooner Health.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed a man near a vehicle in the parking lot of the hospital. The man appeared to be unsteady on his feet, falling into the passenger side of the vehicle as the officers approached the scene. Officers observed an open container of an alcoholic beverage inside the vehicle and smelled a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the man, who was identified as Brian Bearheart, Jr.

Bearheart was placed in handcuffs and moved to a room inside the hospital. While in the hospital room, Bearheart made numerous comments to the officers, saying "I need a gun real quick, n****rs are coming for me"; claiming to not know where he was; stating that people from ‘LCO’ were looking for him; denying calling 9-1-1; and asking for a gun so that he could put it in his mouth and shoot himself, according to the criminal complaint filed against him in Washburn County Circuit Court.

After Bearheart was cleared medically by hospital staff he was transported to the Washburn County Jail. Bearheart appeared for a hearing in September 2021 and the Court placed him on a $1,000 cash bond which was posted that same day, according to online circuit court records.

Charges filed against Bearheart include Class I Felony Terrorist Threats, and three counts of Class H Felony Bail Jumping. Bearheart appeared on September 27, 2021, for a voluntary appearance on his charges, after a warrant was issued for him due to his failure to appear on September 20, 2021. Bearheart is scheduled to appear again in December 2021 regarding his charges in Washburn County Circuit Court.
