Jail Time Ordered On 5th OWI Conviction

POLK COUNTY -- A man has been sentenced on his conviction of 5th Offense Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) in Polk County Circuit Court.

DrydenWire.com reported in July 2018 that Scott Hansen (formerly of Balsam Lake, WI), was facing felony 5th Offense OWI charges following a traffic stop for speeding in the City of Amery.

Hansen, who was unable to complete field sobriety tests and gave a preliminary breath test result of 0.21, also allegedly spat on the Officers who handled the traffic stop and his arrest, and repeatedly told them to “Shut the f**k up”.

Charges of Class G Felony Operating While Intoxicated 5th Offense, 2 counts of Class I Felony Throw/Discharge Bodily Fluid at Public Safety Worker, Misdemeanor Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, and Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct were filed against Hansen.

At a hearing on January 22, 2020, Hansen entered a plea of Guilty to his charge of 5th Offense OWI. His remaining charges were dismissed.

The Court ordered 6-months of conditional jail time for Hansen as part of his 3-years of probation. Other conditions of probation will require Hansen to complete an Alcohol and Other Drug Assessment and comply with all recommendations.
