James grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota, where he played for eight years in the Bloomington Athletic Association. He participated in numerous conference championship teams and the state tournament team with Bloomington Jefferson High School. During that time, James also participated in the premier league of the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association winning a state championship prior to going to college.
James then attended Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota. He was the only four-year letterman of his class and participated on a conference championship team, and the first ever national tournament team.
Throughout his soccer career, James was able to train, play, and learn from some of the best soccer coaches in the state of Minnesota. Many of those coaches were recognized at a local, state, and national level.
Since moving to Spooner, James has also become involved in the Northland Badger Soccer Club. Over the past two years, he has been a youth soccer coach at the U-15 and U-19 levels. Presently, he is a board member of the soccer club.
James is excited to build a winning program through Commitment, Communication, and Cooperation. He is looking forward to building on the hard work and efforts of his predecessor Coach Jon Hansen.
