NORTHWEST WISCONSIN — The January episode of That’s Debatable with Ben and Emily aired live Thursday morning on DrydenWire’s Facebook page, delivering another lively hour of candid conversation, differing perspectives, and viewer engagement.
Hosted by DrydenWire.com founder Ben Dryden and North of Eight Design & Marketing founder Emily Gall, the monthly show opened with lighthearted chit chat, including a discussion on whether either host makes New Year’s resolutions.
The conversation then turned more serious as Ben and Emily addressed a question that sparked immediate interest from viewers: whether either plans to run for re-election to their respective county board seats — Ben in Washburn County and Emily in Burnett County. That discussion led into a broader exchange on why more people choose not to run for local government and the challenges communities face when participation is limited.
The show’s main “That’s Debatable” segment featured a discussion of the F-Scale test, with Ben and Emily working through nine questions and sharing their reactions and interpretations in real time.
Later in the program, the hosts returned to their recurring Sign or Veto segment, examining two hypothetical immigration-related bills. The first, The No Warrant, No Entry Bill, would prohibit ICE from conducting arrests inside private homes without a judicial warrant, even with consent from local law enforcement. The second, The ICE Local Cooperation Bill, would require state and local law enforcement agencies to honor ICE detainer requests for individuals arrested for felonies or violent misdemeanors. As always, Ben and Emily offered differing viewpoints and explained whether they would sign or veto each proposal.
The episode wrapped up with the hosts’ popular Unpopular Opinions segment, where Ben and Emily shared their monthly takes on topics they expect won’t be universally agreed upon.
