WASHBURN COUNTY -- The Alzheimer’s Association® invites the Washburn County community to join the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, the nation’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. The Walk is on Saturday, September 21 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spooner, Wisconsin.
Visit alz.org/walk to register as a team or as an individual today!
Check in for the walk begins at 8:00 a.m. and a brief ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. Following the ceremony is a one-mile walk where participants can honor those loved ones in their lives affected by the disease. Funds and awareness help support the Alzheimer’s care and support programs, research advancement and advocacy efforts. Walks also offer the opportunity for participants to connect with others facing similar experiences and challenges.
In addition to the Walk, participants will enjoy a ceremony with stories from local families connected to the disease, music, refreshments and more.
More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, the sixth-leading cause of death in the U.S. and the only disease among the top 10 causes that cannot be cured, prevented or even slowed. Additionally, more than 15 million family and friends provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
