Ladysmith Police Encourage Anyone with Info Regarding Alleged Threats to Students to Call

Press Release - On March 20, 2017 at approximately 7:00 a.m. the Ladysmith Police Department received information of an alleged threat to students at the Ladysmith Middle and High School located in the City of Ladysmith. Upon receipt of the information, numerous officers from the Ladysmith Police Department and the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Ladysmith Middle and High School.

Officers also responded to a residence in the City of Ladysmith and detained an 18 year old from Ladysmith in reference to this incident. The 18 year old was transported to the Ladysmith Police Department where he was interviewed and later released.

The incident was thoroughly investigated by the Ladysmith Police Department with the assistance of the Ladysmith School District. The Ladysmith Police Department was unable to substantiate the alleged threats that were reported. The Ladysmith Police Department has been working with the Ladysmith School District to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
