Sen. Larson, Dems Pitch Open-Records Update for Voucher Schools
Democrats in Wisconsin continue to target choice schools with new proposed rules that would would require voucher schools in the state to follow Wisconsin’s open meeting rules. Wisconsin’s open meeting rules apply to public bodies, like public schools and local governments. Private schools or religious schools, since their leaders are not elected, are not covered by things like meeting notices, and FOIA requests.

Republicans Try Again with University of Wisconsin Free Speech Standards
Rep. Amanda Nedweski on Tuesday re-introduced legislation that would “establish freedom of expression and academic freedom standards” on all of the university’s campuses. The push comes after the latest Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression campus free speech rankings. The UW earned an F grade in self-censorship, administrative support, and political tolerance.
