Wisconsin Statehouse Democrats Oppose Election Day Reforms
Republican Rep. Scott Krug last week introduced legislation to both count absentee ballots early, and require 24/7 surveillance for ballot dropboxes along with other security steps.
But state Rep. Mark Spreitzer says Democrats aren't interested in passing the dropbox reforms to help secure Wisconsin's elections. Spreitzer called provisions in the election integrity package "poison pills" and said Democrats will not be willing to vote in favor of the package.

More Taxes, More Fees, More Spending Proposed for Milwaukee City Budget
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson has unveiled his proposal for a more than $2 billion 2026 budget for the city. Facing a $100 million budget deficit, the mayor plans to raise Milwaukee’s tax levy by 3% and raise fees 4%. The mayor is also proposing to take $35 million out of the city’s reserves.

Critics Question Latest Wisconsin Test Scores
Wisconsin’s state superintendent says there is good news in the state’s latest test scores, but not everyone is willing to go that far. In reality, scores for the Forward Exam, the test given to kids in third through eighth grade, scores for reading went-up by 0.3%, while math scores fell 0.3%. Not much to write home about.
