SAWYER COUNTY (DrydenWire) - Shortly before midnight on October 4, 2025, law enforcement responded to reports of a man pounding on windows, yelling and swearing, and trying to enter a residence in Sand Lake Township, Sawyer County.
A criminal complaint states that the suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Saul Demain of Hayward, smashed his way into a breezeway before being subdued with a Taser. What began as a trespassing call quickly escalated into a violent struggle that continued inside the hospital, where Demain allegedly kicked, punched, and threatened officers.
Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted with the incident, including Hayward Police Department, Washburn County Sheriff’s Office, Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Police Department, and Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office.
