WASHBURN / SAWYER — In the early morning hours of May 27, 2026, numerous guests of the Best Western Hotel in Spooner, WI, were awoken by loud sounds described as possible gunshots when over a dozen ground-floor windows were shattered.
Multiple Officers responded, and minutes later received a report of someone shattering a glass door at the Kwik Trip North Convenience store in Spooner. Footprints in the grass and a bloody trail led officers to a suspect on foot, Brandon Fones (35), of Radisson, WI.
Fones, who was already facing felony criminal damage charges in Sawyer County Circuit Court from a December 2025 incident, was taken into custody and is now facing multiple criminal charges in both counties.
