POLK COUNTY — Criminal charges, including felony strangulation and suffocation and felony child abuse, are proceeding in Burnett County Circuit Court against Dakota Burgstaler, 35, following allegations of repeated domestic abuse involving an adult woman and multiple children over a period of several years.

The charges stem from allegations that Burgstaler physically assaulted and strangled the adult victim and intentionally caused harm to a child under the age of 2. A criminal complaint filed in Burnett County Circuit Court states that investigating officers were provided with photographic evidence of the injuries.

Burgstaler has waived his preliminary examination and was bound over for further proceedings.
